Marla Jukurrpa (Rufous Hare-Wallaby Jukurrpa), by Joy Nangala Brown

acrylic on Belgian linen, 152x76cm, 3998/07

Stretched canvas $2565

This canvas is currently ready to hang but can be destretched for postage.

This story starts at Mawurrungu to the south west of Yuendumu. The Marla Dreaming travels from there to Yinjirrimardi and then further on to Yanturnpuru and Jila, far to the west of Yuendumu.

Mala (rufous hare-wallaby) or Lagorchestes hirsutus lives in hollows they dig under spinifex clumps. They are difficult to hunt as they run very fast throughout their habitat on spinifex country.
