Kirraewurrung artist Tracy Roach from Gunditjmara Country, Warrnambool Victoria has hand carved a woodblock to create this beautiful print of the eel, which is her Grandmother’s totem.
Eels are profoundly important to the Gunitjmara people who farmed them in aquaculture systems for thousands of years.
The textural markings Tracy has used are traditional Victorian markings representing creation and ceremony.
