Red Mallee (Eucalyptus pachphylla), grows with spinifex on sand plains or in shallow limestone. It grow up to 4-6 metres high and produces masses of creamy yellow flowers which are a source of nectar and the source of much of the honey produced in inland regions. This Dreaming is related to Honey Dreaming. People go out on long walks looking for 'honey bags'. Branches are cut down and honey placed into billy cans. Red Mallee shoots quickly after fire or when branches are removed. Honey is aways taken back and shares with other families.
