From England to Australia and on to Brazil and America, Sam Gummer has been a traveler of the world since a young child. Always creative and artistic, she first became interested in photography at the age of 15. This lead to studying bachelor of fine art in San Francisco with a major in photography and installation, which she completed in Coventry, UK in 1995. From darkroom to digital photography, landscapes to portraits, Gummer explores the vast possibilities of the medium of photographic art, eventually finding her place in photo journalism and live concert photography.
Gummer sees photography as a medium to share elements of the world that the viewer may never have encountered or seen, encouraging them to step into realities beyond their own lives and connect with the existence of others. Through photography she narrates stories with integrity and candour, inviting questions and personal interpretations whilst evoking intimate thoughts, reactions and emotions to each image as well as the collection as a whole.
