Karnta Jukurrpa (Womens Dreaming) by Wilma Napangardi Poulson 2095/21

Acrylic on Belgian Linen, 76x61 cm

Unstretched: $1100

Stretched: $1215

This painting depicts Nakamarra and Napurrurla women hunting for bush foods. The two sites represented in this Dreaming story are both associated with bush food, yarla or bush potato (Ipomoea costata) and wanakiji or bush tomato (Solanum chippendalei). Women collect food with their karlangu or digging stick. In Warlpiri paintings iconography are used to represent elements in the stories. Concentric circles are used to represent food the women have found and the straight lines represent digging sticks.
